That's right, we now have a Contactless Check-In feature! Now the parents can check-in their child from their HiMama app (this is not available on the parent website portal) and even add an electronic signature if set up by the center.
Check the instructions below on how to enable this feature for the parents:
#1: Click on 'Logins & Configuration'.
#2: Click on 'Center Settings' to expand the section.
#3: Select your preferred method of identification.
#4: Check or uncheck the 'Parents can sign child in via app' box according to your preference.
#5: Click on 'Save'.
-
No Identification Collected - parents can check their child in without additional validation.
-
Name/Initials (Typed) - parents are prompted to type their name or initials.
-
Electronic Signature - parents are prompted to electronically sign their name. This option is recommended if a signature is state/province required.
Once the feature is enabled, the parents will see an Attendance button for their child on their homepage. Click here to check the tutorial for parents.
If the option selected is "Name/Initials (Typed)", you can see a "Dropped of by" field with the name entered by the parent that checked the child in. This information is available from the child's individual Attendance report and from the Classroom Weekly Attendance report. See an example below:
The Contactless Check-In feature also includes the ability for parents to add drop-off notes! This will make it easier for parents to communicate the child's needs to the center for that day.
The notes are easily visible to all staff with access to the classroom Attendance page that the child is located in. From here, the following information is available: checked in status, an indication of the parent that checked the child in, time of the check-in
and drop-off notes (if entered by the parent).
#1: Click on 'Classroom' and choose a classroom.
#2: Example of a check-in made by the parent without a drop-off note.
#3: Example of a check-in made by the parent with a drop-off note. To view the details you can simply click on the message icon and a pop-up will open with the note, parent's name, and the time.
The drop-off notes are also available on the child's Daily Report. Even if the parent doesn’t enter notes, you can view the time and name of the parent that checked the child in from here.
Last but not least, the drop-off notes are available on the child's individual Attendance report by clicking on the check-in time (child's profile > Attendance) and on the Classroom Weekly Attendance report (click on the check-in time. If an electronic signature was entered, click on the pencil icon > view).
Things to note
-
The 'Parent Check In' section on the Daily Report is only visible for the center, parents cannot see this information.
-
There is no lock on where and when a parent can complete this check-in. If the parent checks the child in too early, the administrator or teacher can adjust the check-in time for the child. We don't recommend deleting the check-in as it removes all notes and records of the parent trying to check the child in.
-
The 'Parent can sign child in via app' setting is separate from the 'Mark absent' feature. These options will only be displayed for the parents if the center enables the option.
